On the negative side: hotel didn't congratulate me on my birthday. It could be a small gesture like bottle of wine in the room or even a card. Absolutely nothing. During last 10 years travelling and staying in different hotels around the world it was my first birthday when hotel didn't pay attention to me on my birthday....

Great Hotel
It also has a tram line outside the door.
The Hotel staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was a problem for them.
We got moved to a quieter room as we were concerned about the noise from the tram, but it does stop at 12mn at starts again around 7am.
The rooms very very clean and spacious with spectacular views over the river Douro.
The beds really very comfortable.
We were very surprised at the standard of food in the restaurant, we had 2 meals there it was so nice.
We booked directly with the Hotel and got the best deal that way by keeping an eye on their website.
