Avoid this horrible hotel
Manager Maria barged into our room at 00.30 the night before check-out. She literally took her key and opened the door while I was in bed and my wife was in the shower! She said she ”suspected” that we would leave in the morning without paying, and demanded us to pay on the spot. I was shocked. A completely humiliating and insulting way to treat your guests.
Other reasons to avoid this horrible hotel (besides harassment and invasion of privacy):
- They do NOT clean the rooms! We put up the ”please clean” sign, they did not even bother making the bed or change towels.
- Scam charge for incidentals. They charged us 100 NOK for a ”Kombucha” drink at checkout which I had never ordered, very scammy!
- They charge for EVERYTHING extra, even to borrow snow shoes (!)
- They charge 600 NOK (!!) to use the jacuzzi for 1h, no bathrobe or slippers provided. Not fun walking from the room to the jacuzzi with a tiny towel in the middle of the freezing arctic!
- Parking. Need to walk up a long, steep and very icy/slippery hill every time to get to your room.
- No towel heater in the bathroom in arctic winter
- Weak breakfast with few options. Dinner tasteless, premium charge (~500 NOK per dish) taking advantage that the closest option for food is 45 min away by car, in Kvaløysletta.
Take your money somewhere else, there are much better options around Tromsø, trust me!

Lovely stay at Yggdrasil Farmhotel!
There is a space for Yggdrasil yoga with a view of the mountains and a large yet cozy lounge upstairs with the comforts of home and the same stunning view of the sea and the mountains ahead. There is even a chance to use the sauna near the sea and dip in the water between sauna sessions for a full Nordic experience.
Our cabin was very comfortable with well utilized spaces in the rooms and bathroom, each decorated with the same modern, yet rustic, beautiful touch present throughout the property. Along the path we had the animal farm on site where 2 baby goats had been born just 5 days apart. There is so much care for the animals and the property which has been there for 14 years.
The experience was further elevated with night time auroras dancing over the property at night. The hotel’s position and night lighting is ideal to see northern lights right above the property and we were even able to continue viewing auroras from one of the beds in our cabin. Thank you to the entire Yggdrasil family for making our experience with you unforgettable! We hope to see you again during the summer!

36th wedding anniversary at Yggdrasiltunet farmhotel
We stayed in a modern viking Living Suite. It was very nice sleeping with the animals just outside the room. The room was a good size . Could have done with more storage for us staying 5 nights. The hosts and staff are friendly and very helpful.
